• There is no age or citizen restriction.
  • The entrant must first
    before submitting a video recording for Stage 1.
  • The entry fee of $65 AUD must be received upon registering.
  • The entrant must perform on violin.
  • Performing from memory is optional.
  • Performing with repeats is optional.
  • The movement performed for Stage 1 cannot be performed for Stage 2.
  • If the entrant submits multiple video links, only the first will be considered.
  • The adjudicators’ and audience’s decisions are final.
  • The entry fee is non-refundable and non-transferrable.
  • All prize money is in Australian currency.
  • In the event of a draw, prize money will be divided up equally amongst the winners.

  • Ensure your video recording is of reasonable sound and image quality (smartphone recordings are acceptable).
  • Record in a dry acoustic (e.g. carpeted room).
  • Use only one camera in a fixed position.
  • Ensure there is no interfering background noise or movement.
  • Set the camera at a height and distance where your violin, bow and face can be seen at all times. The video image should be filled with as much of YOU as possible, but we must still be able to see the full bow when it is at the tip and nut.
  • Visually, we do not need to see your knees or too much above your head.
  • The clearer the sound quality, the more chance we have of enjoying and assessing your performance. As a result, additional sound recording equipment may be used.
  • Submit your Stage 1 video as early as you like. Video entries will not be viewed until after the cut-off date.
  • Performing from memory is encouraged.
